Summary
- This is a studio website. It has no accounts and no comments. It has one contact form.
- We ask for personal information only in the contact form. We set no cookies.
- Cloudflare hosts the site. Google hosts the site's font. Both receive your IP address.
- Contact-form messages go to our mailbox at Google Workspace. We use them only to reply to you, and we delete them within 30 days after the conversation ends.
- We do not sell or share personal information. We show no ads.
- The Space Game has its own policy at systemchaos.com/privacy.
Who we are
databyte.dev, LLC runs this website. We are a limited liability company in Georgia, in the United States. "We" and "us" mean databyte.dev, LLC.
This policy covers databyte.dev only. Our game, The Space Game, collects more data because it offers accounts and leaderboards. Read The Space Game privacy policy for details.
What happens when you visit
- Hosting. Cloudflare hosts and delivers this site. To send you the pages, Cloudflare receives your IP address, your browser user agent and the page you ask for. A small program on Cloudflare handles the contact form and the email link for legal notices. Cloudflare may keep records of requests under its own terms. Our code never logs what you type into the form or your IP address. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Fonts. The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Your browser connects to Google to get the font, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. See the Google privacy policy and the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- Web analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. We see only totals, such as page views and countries, not individual visitors.
The contact form is the only place this site asks for personal information. The next section explains how it works.
The contact form
The contact form is at databyte.dev/contact. The home page also opens it in a window.
- What you give us. Your email address and your message. Your name is optional. The form also has a hidden field that people do not see. We use it to spot automated spam.
- Bot check. When you send, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is using the form. Turnstile runs in a frame from challenges.cloudflare.com. It receives your IP address and details about your browser and device. See the Cloudflare Turnstile privacy addendum.
- Abuse limit. To slow down spam, Cloudflare counts the messages sent from your network for one minute. The count uses your IP address. It is not stored with your message.
- Delivery. Cloudflare Email Service sends your message to us as an email. The email shows your name, your email address and your message, and it lets us reply to you directly.
- Storage. Our mailbox is at Google Workspace. Google stores the message and our reply for us. This site does not store your message anywhere else.
- Use. We use your message only to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message with anyone else.
- How long we keep it. If we do not answer a message, we delete it 30 days after we receive it. If we answer, we delete the whole conversation, with our replies, 30 days after the last message in it.
- Children. If we learn that a message comes from a child under 13, we reply once. Then we delete the message and our reply on the same day, from every folder of the mailbox.
- Identity. A form message does not prove who you are. If you ask about an account or its data in The Space Game, we act only after you show that you control the account's email address, for example by writing to us from it.
Cookies and device storage
This site sets no cookies, and its own code saves nothing in your browser's storage. The Turnstile bot check loads only when you send the contact form. It runs inside a frame from challenges.cloudflare.com. We have not turned on Turnstile pre-clearance, the feature that would set a Cloudflare cookie on this site.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising. Cloudflare and Google handle contact-form messages for us, only to deliver and store them. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track you across other websites. So Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how this site works. We treat every visitor the same way.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If a child sends a message through the contact form, we handle it as the contact form section describes. A parent who thinks we hold a child's information can contact us, and we will delete it.
International visitors
We run this site from the United States. Your request data and contact-form messages are processed in the United States and in the countries where Cloudflare and Google operate.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date.
Contact
Send any privacy question through the contact form, or email legal@databyte.dev.invalid. We respond within 30 days.
